WWE is returning to Saudi Arabia to host another pay-per-view event on Thursday, February 20, according to PWInsider, which did not report further details but said an announcement is expected to be made shortly.

The event will be WWE’s fifth PPV hosted in the kingdom following the US entertainment company’s WWE Greatest Royal Rumble and WWE Crown Jewel in 2018, and WWE Super ShowDown and WWE Crown Jewel in 2019.

Following the Crown Jewel in October last year, the company’s relationship with Saudi Arabia was tested after more than 175 wrestlers, production staff and other WWE employees were stranded inside a plane for more than six hours at the King Fahd International due to mechanical failures in the charter plane.

But in November, WWE announced it had expanded its live event partnership with the Saudi General Entertainment Authority (GEA) through 2027 to include a second annual large-scale event and media agreement in the MENA region.

“This long-term partnership demonstrates WWE and GEA’s commitment to bring sports entertainment to the region and supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030,” the statement said.
