UN appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian work in Yemen

UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Mark Lowcock expressed deep appreciation to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for their tangible support for the humanitarian and relief work in Yemen by providing $1.5 billion at the donor conference last February.

He also thanked the two Arab countries for their grant of $930 million to the Yemeni people in addition to $300 million based on their previous pledge last November.

He also commended their role to facilitate the access of aid in the city of Hodeida, enabling the UN to speed up relief operations and meet food needs.

Lowcock made the remarks while speaking at a press conference Wednesday following a high-level humanitarian meeting between the Saudi Arabia,

UAE and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the presence of Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, advisor to the Royal Court and General Supervisor of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief).
