“We want to express our deepest condolences to their families. The safety of our people and operations is a top priority, as additional safety measures will be taken in pace to prevent incidents in future,” the statement added.
It has a workforce of over 700 employees, the majority of which are Saudi nationals, according to the company’s website.
The refinery was previously a joint venture between Aramco and Royal Dutch Shell, until the former bought it out in September as part of plans to expand its downstream operations.
