Saudi Crown Prince Visit to SWCC Reflects its Importance

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, visited the Jeddah Desalination Plant Wednesday evening to personally congratulate the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) workers on their achievement,

which reflected its great importance and the leadership’s support to all working citizens in various sectors.

SWCC recorded a surge in production from 3.5 million cubic meters to 5 million cubic meters during the past two years without an increase in costs, a global record for the desalination industry. This increase in efficiency is part of the plant’s commitment to the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the National Transition Program 2020.

The corporation has achieved 91 percent Saudization by employing over 10,000 Saudi workers.

All the SWCC plants are operating at full production capacity on scientific bases aiming at sustainable water production, according to SWCC governor Engineer Ali Bin Abdulrahman al-Hazmi.

At the same time, employees are in line with the new technological and digital developments that meet the countries’ policies and aspirations. These have contributed to 95 percent of the technical and administrative organizational units winning ISO certificates and the majority of SWCC desalination plants recently obtaining ISO 14001 Certificates for the Environment, he added.

During the visit, Prince Mohammed thanked the plant’s workers for the work they exert every day.

He told the plant operators: “I wanted to visit one of the plants to thank everyone for their efforts, [increasing productivity] without spending a single riyal.”

The Prince praised the efforts of planning and coordination that led to the success of the stations, research center and the operation and maintenance sector, which had a significant impact on the readiness of transmission systems. This contributed to increasing the efficiency and performance rates, until the production surge.
