There were 18,033 COVID-19 violations in Saudi Arabia from Jan. 18 to Jan. 24, the Ministry of Interior tweeted.

Riyadh had the highest number of breaches with 5,343, followed by Makkah with 3,028. There were 2,236 COVID-19 violations in the Eastern Province, 1,798 in Qassim and 1,495 in Madinah.

The ministry said that 84,807 violations have been committed since the start of the pandemic

Interior ministry spokesperson Lt. Col. Talal Al-Shalhoub said the laxity of some people in adhering to the requirements and precautionary measures has led to an increase in infections in the last period.

During a press conference, he said that the total number of violations so far amounted to 84,807 across all regions of the Kingdom, adding that security personnel will continue to monitor any violations and would arrest offenders.

The ministry called on citizens and residents to stick to the preventive measures and follow the instructions issued by authorities.
