Friday prayers held in Saudi Arabia for second week since restrictions eased

Worshippers in Saudi Arabia attended Friday prayers for the second week running as the Kingdom eases coronavirus measures.

Mosques in the Kingdom opened their doors 40 minutes before Friday prayers to avoid overcrowding, except for mosques in Makkah and Jeddah which remain closed to curb the spread of the virus.

They closed 20 minutes after prayers ended. The Friday prayer and sermon lasted 15 minutes in total in line with guidelines to prevent the spread of the disease.

Saudi Arabia announced 36 more deaths from the novel coronavirus COVID-19, 3,921 new cases of the disease and 1,010 recoveries from it on Friday.
