COVID-19 in GCC: Saudi Arabia reports 11 deaths, 3 in Oman

The overall daily count of COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar has climbed to 865,006, while total deaths have risen to 9,046, as of Thursday.

Kuwait

Kuwait today reported 221 new cases, taking the total number of confirmed infections to 147,192. No new deaths were reported over the past 24 hours, keeping mortalities at 913, the Ministry of Health said in its latest update on Thursday.




An additional 204 patients have fully recovered, shooting up total recoveries to 143,113.

The active cases have now reached 3,166, including 54 that are critical under intensive care treatment.

Oman

The Sultanate registered 184 new cases and three more deaths, bringing the country’s total number of infections to 127,019 and fatality tally to 1,483.

Over the past 24 hours, 273 fresh recoveries were reported, raising total recoveries to 119,009. 118,736, according to the latest update by the Ministry of Health.

The ministry urged everyone to adhere to social distancing protocols and precautionary measures in place to stem the COVID-19 pandemic.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia today reported 181 new cases, taking the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 360,516.

According to the latest update by the Ministry of Health, 11 deaths were reported over the past 24 hours, taking total fatalities to 6,091. A further 173 new recoveries were registered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people recovered from the virus to 351,365, with the recovery rate climbing to 97.46 per cent.

The active cases have declined to 3,093, out of which 476 that are critical under intensive care.

Bahrain

A further 156 people have tested positive in Bahrain, including 76 expatriate workers, 66 people infected with the virus after contacting active cases, and 14 are travel related.

This brings the total confirmed cases in the Kingdom to 89,600. One person has succumbed to the virus over the past 24 hours, taking fatality tally to 349.

The active cases have now reached 1,561, including 1,551 that are stable, 26 cases are still under treatment and 10 are critical under intensive care. There were 200 fresh recoveries, increasing total recoveries to 87,690.

Qatar

The Ministry of Public Health has confirmed the detection of 140 new cases, bringing the total cases in Qatar to 141,412.

No new fatalities were reported over the past 24 hours, keeping fatality tally at 242.



According to the ministry’s latest update, a further 201 patients have fully recovered, pushing the total number of people recovered from the virus across the country to 139,243. Active cases have now touched 2,072, including 218 that are stable under treatment, and 21 are critical under intensive care.
